For International Women's Day we have teamed up with Elena Carriére to continue to support the empowerment of women in northern Uganda through our partnership with Caïo - a social enterprise that creates sustainable skincare for the greater good. This year’s message is simple: you can. With this campaign, we want to inspire and empower women all over the world.
Take a closer look at this exclusive capsule collection of organic cotton T-shirts and a sweatshirt designed to celebrate the power of women. All profits from the sale of the collection go directly towards small business development initiatives in northern Uganda, in partnership with Caïo.
The funds will continue the development of economic pathways for this community of incredible women and help Caïo expand their organisation with the construction of a new office and the purchase of IT devices to provide further education initiatives.
As a social enterprise, Caïo produces high-end skincare from hand-picked shea nuts collected by female entrepreneurs. Caïo’s work makes a lasting difference in the lives of the strong yet vulnerable women who harvest these nuts. Besides selling the products, Caïo also trains the women in financial literacy and entrepreneurship, along with sales and marketing training.
A community of incredible women

What is International Women's Day? You’ve most definitely heard about it, but do you know everything about this historical day? If not, keep reading as we take you on a journey from its beginning in early, 1900's New York to this year’s theme and current female leaders.
First, let’s start off with some facts: The Socialist Party of America is the first known Women’s Day organiser. Back in 1909 they held an event called “National Woman’s Day”. Only two years later, in 1911, International Women’s Day had expanded and was now held in Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Austria too – and thus, an international event was born.
As the years have passed, IWD has been commemorated in countries across the world and gathered wide recognition.
When is International Women’s Day?
Every year, we celebrate and fight for women’s equality on the 8th of March. Despite different names and traditions, the date remains the same in all countries.
This year’s campaign theme is #EachForEqual. Because of the current gender pay gap, this theme is more important than ever. You might think that Serena Williams is as big of a tennis star than her male peers, but her prize money is smaller. You might think that today’s boardrooms are full of strong and talented women, but the majority of them consists of men. For those reasons and many more, the official campaign urges us all to be #EachforEqual.
Get ready for the big day
Now, all you need is to get into the IWD mood. Put on some Beyoncé and read these great Women’s Day quotes – you’ll be ready in no time.
“I am grateful to be a woman. I must have done something great in another life.” – Maya Angelou
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.” – Margaret Thatcher
“Human rights are women's rights, and women's rights are human rights.” – Hillary Clinton
“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” – Michelle Obama
Celebrate this important day by gathering your mom, sister and girlfriends and take the streets to celebrate how far we have come and, most importantly, to continue the fight for equality.
